FEATURED RELEASE

Our featured single, ‘HANDS UP’ by YURBY, is out now and available to stream on all major streaming platforms! The single lasts three minutes and thirty-six seconds and sits at a steady 130bpm. The track commences with a fifteen second introduction that combines ambient vocalisations with a foundational percussive beat; setting the tone for the proceeding verse. A staccato styled electric guitar is added alongside the main vocal line.

Yurby’s vocal color is clean and emotive; matching the melodic flow of the instrumentation. A slight reverb is added to the main vocal, resultantly creating an atmospheric sound. The main hook, “Put my hands up slow”, follows a memorable melody that is reinforced into the subconscious of the listener through multiple lines of repetition. A point of creative flare can be found around the 1:52 mark when Yurby shows off her ability to project multiple fast paced lines before seamlessly shifting back to her original tempo.

Refusing to shy away from lyrical content that addresses important social issues, lines such as: “He said ‘Get out of your car’ And I was afraid he wouldn't recognize me as human” and “The media that hunts you. Who made you more than human?”, express Yurby’s bold and meaningful writing style.

The official music video was shot by The Fleet, Luisa V. Guerrero and Ligaya Batten. The art direction and editing were provided by Yurby Aquino and Luisa V. Guerrero, and the production was carried out by Andrew Ybanez and Yurby Aquino.

From the powerful lyrical content and stylistic vocal performance, to the well produced instrumentation, fans of YURBY, as well as those who appreciate new and meaningful music, will definitely want to hear this single. Make sure you subscribe to YURBY on YouTube to keep up to date with upcoming releases, performances and music videos!
