ABOUT THE ARTIST
Wölframandhartiger is an up and coming two-piece band who come from Springfield, Missouri. Members Doug Driesel Jr. and Jake Young, in addition to being talented musicians, put their fingers to the test as active professional thumb wrestlers for the National Digit Wrestling Association. Having had the opportunity to take a little “downtime from thumb wrestling”, the duo combined their musical efforts to form Wölframandhartiger and have been writing and producing their original music ever since.
Although Wölframandhartiger just burst onto the music scene in October of this year, both members have a plethora of experience performing in front of crowds; Jake has been doing improvisational comedy for the past fifteen years and Doug has being doing improv/stand-up for more than twenty-years. With this amount of on-stage experience, it’s easy to see how the pair can transition their performance abilities into their music.

Although there isn’t exactly an overwhelming amount of venues open at the moment due to the global pandemic, Wölframandhartiger have used this time to focus on their compositional efforts. The band have already amassed three releases in their online discography: ‘Giving It 54%’ (June 21, 2020), ‘Vollmar - EP’ (October, 13 2020), and our featured album ‘Oo-De-Lally’ (November 7, 2020).
With the National Audio Company being situated in their home state, Wölframandhartiger like to release their music on cassette (buy the cassette for their latest release by clicking here). They also have a Qrates campaign “in the works” for ‘Oo-De-Lally’. With three releases in just five months, there’s no denying the fact that Wölframandhartiger have proved themselves to be an original band that you’ll definitely want to see live once the opportunity arises!

Although the album is technically tagged with the genre classifications of “punk, electronic, [and] hip-hop” on the band’s official Bandcamp, each track delivers completely unique and diverse compositional elements that showcase Wölframandhartiger’s original creativity and authentic style; from the comedic lyricism and upbeat flow of the walking bass-line and clean electric layer of ‘Ping Pong Balls’, the ominous melodic tone, seemingly improvised vocals and cinematic strings of ‘VHS’, the stylistically distorted electric guitar driven progression, systematic use of harmonised vocals and hilarious lyricism in ‘British Colonies’, to the final short creative piece that amalgamates trippy effects to form an electronic/trance like melodic flow in ‘Alma Mater’.
From the vast melodic diversity, to the completely original and authentic lyricism, fans of Wölframandhartiger, as well as those who appreciate new and creative music, will definitely want to hear this album.
