ABOUT THE ARTIST
Trynket is an up and coming singer songwriter who burst onto the music scene in 2019. The Cebu (Philippines) born artist, musician and filmmaker is currently based in Los Angeles where she records her latest music. Trynket’s unique sound has evolved from her earlier synth-pop style into the “powerfully evocative Pop/R&B force it is today”. Although Trynket has undeniably progressed her signature sound as an artist, the new material that she has been working on for the past two years “still has a good dose of synth-heavy tracks”. Our featured single, ‘Downbeat’ by Trynket, is out now and available to stream on all major streaming platforms! The single was released on the seventeenth of September, lasts three minutes and twenty-five seconds, and sits at a smooth 150bpm.
The track commences with a five second instrumental introduction that features a solo percussive layer; setting the rhythmic intensity for the proceeding verse. A foundational bass-line kicks in at the 0:06 mark along with the main vocal. Trynket’s vocal color is clean and emotive; seamlessly synchronising with the flow of the instrumental accompaniment. A subtle delay effect is added to create just the right amount of depth to the overall sound.
A swirling synth layer permeates through the mix, providing a sense of fullness whilst also adding to the atmospheric quality of the production. Additional harmonised vocal layers instigate at the 0:57 mark in synchronisation with a more powerful synth layer; creating a dynamic shift as the melodic intensity of the single increases. The repetition of the chorus creates a trance like flow that makes the main melodic hook all the more memorable. The fadeout from around 3:16 until the end of the track allows the diminuendo styled outro to bring the track to a gradual close, whilst also inciting the listener to hit that replay button.
