TK Tycoon - 'Ginja'

The latest single ‘Ginja’, from TK Tycoon, will be released on the 15th of May this year and will be available to stream on all major streaming platforms!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Based in Stockholm, Sweden, the singer/producer TK Tycoon was born in Nigeria. His unique style is derived from a “blend of music” that he draws creative inspiration from. Such genres include the West African contemporary pop music style that originated in Nigeria known as Afropop, the reggae derived uptempo dance music style Dancehall, and the fusion of house music and reggaeton genre known as Moombahton

TK Tycoon has an impressive discography dating back on Spotify to 2012. Now primarily focused on the production of afrobeat, afrohouse and moombahton, TK Tycoon has released 2016’s ‘On Me’ and 2019’s ‘Gentleman’.

Already amassing a growing following of fans, TK Tycoon’s online streams are incredibly impressive. His total spotify engagement exceeds one and a half million streams and with his recent shift towards focusing on an afrobeat style, top producers are taking notice. One such producer is Martin Jensen who remixed TK Tycoon’s track ‘On Me’. It’s fair to say that TK Tycoon has established himself in the industry.

UPCOMING RELEASE

On the 15th of May, TK Tycoon will be releasing his highly anticipated single ‘Ginja’ which will be available to stream on all major platforms. The three minute and twenty-one second track sits in at around 115bpm and is definitely a tempo that will invoke spontaneous dancing.

Driven by clean percussion, the track utilises layered synth and other panned instrumentation to create an introductory build until the 0:15 mark when a percussive fill leads into the vocal line. TK Tycoon’s vocal color throughout is smooth and relaxed, adding to the energetic instrumentation of the single in a complimentary style that doesn’t detract from the dance flow.

Various instances of layered vocals, particularly at the end of each line, adds a depth and creative flare that keeps the listener fully engaged with the track. The first chorus kicks in at around the 0:50 mark with a vocal line that utilises an octave split of melodic imitation that creates a powerful sound. Another point of creative flare can be found at the 2:29 mark with an instrumental solo that adds the perfect amount of stylistic diversity.

The lyrical content of the track addresses the appealing movement of the woman who the single revolves around, with phrases such as “I don't mind, take you home make you meet my mama” showing the powerful influence that the woman has on TK Tycoon. “You got me singing Kumbaya” uses the African statement of disputed origin that typically refers to the phrase “come by here”, as a means of showing the vocalist’s affection for the woman and how her movement influences the flow of this rhythmic track. The lyrical content of the single is perfectly encapsulated by the main chorus statement and track title ‘Ginja’. Repeating throughout the chorus, ‘ginja’ refers to the energy of the song and to the hype that comes with getting in the right mood, the perfect title to describe the style of this epic afrobeat anthem.

Fans of Afrobeat, Afropop, Dancehall and Moombahton will definitely love this track and its creative production. Make sure you follow TK Tycoon on his social media and Spotify to keep up to date with his upcoming releases!
