The Moonshoots - ‘Golden Hour’
The debut EP, ‘Golden Hour’ by The Moonshoots, is out on the 8th of June on all major streaming platforms!
ABOUT THE ARTIST
The Moonshoots are an LA based indie-rock band that have been around since 2013. The band is comprised of Kate Felsted and Robert Felsted Jr., who share the vocal, songwriting and production responsibilities, in addition to Schuyler Schweers on guitar, James Albis on the Rhodes/Moog, and drummer Dave Witter of Bad Apples, BigPieces.
Given that this is the band’s debut EP, one may wonder what The Moonshoots were getting up to since their formation. From 2013 to 2015, The Moonshoots had a residency performing and arranging movie soundtracks at The Majestic Crest theatre in LA; known for the likes of True Romance, The Muppets (50th Anniversary) and The Big Lebowski.
From 2016-2018 the band had a residency at the Hollywood Improv Lab as the Houseband for a game show, sharing the stage with the likes of Jeff Garlin, Judd Apatow, Jimmy O. Yang and Joe Rogan. From 2018 onwards, The Moonshoots have had songs from their EP, along with other original compositions, used in independent feature films. One of their most recent tracks to get picked up was ‘Window Open Wide’ which was featured in the independent film ‘Addicted to You’, released February 14th, 2020.
FEATURED RELEASE
The new EP, ‘Golden Hour’ by The Moonshoots is out June 8th on all major streaming platforms!
Although this is the debut EP for the band, it certainly does not feel like a debut project. With seven years of professional experience in the bag, The Moonshoots have produced seven tracks that capture their seasoned sound.
The opening track, ‘Sunshine Daydream’, begins with an instrumental section that paves the way for Kate Felsted’s vocal line. Utilising a soft and emotive vocal color, Kate’s style perfectly suits the melody of this track. The implementation of layered harmony lines, check out 1:34 to 1:55, creates an epic crescendo when combined with the growing intensity of the instrumentation.
‘LA (On Fire)’ is track three on the EP and sits in at around a steady 176bpm. Revealing a completely different side to the band, in contrast with ‘Sunshine Daydream’, this funky, upbeat track features both Kate and Robert on vocals, complimenting one another. Each layer of instrumentation sits alone as an individually impressive contributory element, yet when all of the instruments are amalgamated, the epic sound that is produced is unique to The Moonshoots.
This debut EP will be an absolute hit with both fans of The Moonshoots and new music. With the potentially symbolic release of seven tracks, one for each year of hard work they have committed to the music industry since their formation, this debut EP will surely be the first release of many. Make sure you follow The Moonshoots on their social media to keep up to date with their upcoming releases and performances!
