ABOUT THE ARTIST
The Far North are an up and coming band who formed back in 2019; Lee Wylding on vocals/guitar, and Andie Packer on drums. With a desire to “go back to a traditional way of crafting songs”, The Far North ensured their authentic sound was captured by recording at Manchester's Airtight Studios with the UK producer Nigel Stonier, known for his work with the likes of Lindisfarne, Joan Baez, Robert Plant and Martha Wainwright.
To date, The Far North have two releases in their online discography: ‘This House Is Ours’, amassing almost sixty-two thousand streams, and ‘Runaway’, gathering over twenty-three thousand streams. With this amount of interest in their first two singles, there is no denying the fact that The Far North have developed a dedicated following of fans who will be eager to hear their upcoming debut album.
Although The Far North’s sound has been depicted as having “captured a nostalgic vibe” similar to that of “early Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young”, their authentic sound comprised elements from a variety of genres to form their unique style. With their debut album being released through Red Lantern Records, and with the support of The Analog Music Fund, The Far North are definitely building some serious momentum for their album release.

The album consists of eleven tracks: ‘Runaway’, ‘This House Is Ours’, ‘Branches’, ‘When We Were Young’, ‘Compass Pointing’, ‘My Heart’, ‘Stronger Together’, ‘Sleep Tight Songbird’, ‘Grace’, ‘1994’, and ‘Gentle Souls’.
Although the album is grouped under the genre classification of Country, each track features a variety of stylistic elements that showcase The Far North’s creative talent; from the powerful vocal performance, foundational strings and catchy melodic hook of ‘Runaway’, the stylistic harmonica solo and upbeat acoustic guitar led rhythmic flow of ‘This House Is Ours’, the smooth instrumentation and emotive vocal color of ‘Stronger Together’, to the beautiful chorus and perfect combination of ambient piano and steady acoustic guitar in ‘Gentle Souls’.
