ABOUT THE ARTIST
Reality Check formed back in 2018 in their hometown of Seattle. The alternative rock band primarily perform their own original songs, whilst also doing the “occasional cover”. The band is comprised of Spanish born Joseph L. Gabaldon on guitar, John Standley on drums and the South African born Kathleen Wilson on vocals.

The band’s song-writing process involves the amalgamation of each member’s musical creativity and interests to form their unique, collective sound. Although the band has seen many transformations, the heart of the band has remained in Seattle, performing at local spots that include the Hard Rock Cafe on Pike Street.

To date, the band have one Spotify release in their discography: ‘Warping Space’ — released on the tenth of March, 2020. The upcoming release, ‘The Bargain’, will see an ever-evolving Reality Check release a creative work that is “different from anything that's come beforehand”.

Sitting at a solid 160bpm, ‘The Bargain’ begins with a thirty second instrumental introduction. Commencing with a rapid electric guitar riff, every five to six seconds an additional layer is added; firstly with the kick, followed by the more complex percussion. A run down at the 0:23 mark leads the epic intro into a more melodic phase that inevitably transitions into the first verse at 0:31.
A powerful guitar solo around three minutes in, along with the intensity brought by the vocal performance mixed with the foundational bass and fast paced percussion, make this track four and a half minutes of melodic hard rock.
