ABOUT THE ARTIST
Only Ghosts Remain are an up and coming alternative metal band who are originally from North Queensland. The band consists of four members: Lauren Barnes, Aaron Bell, Cedric Kirchner, and Tim Edwards. Although Only Ghosts Remain receive creative inspiration from a variety of artists, their unique and authentic sound has been described as having “dynamic passages that meander between neck-snapping breakdowns and intimate, ethereal interludes”.
Only Ghosts Remain have a plethora of experience when it comes to performance. They have supported the likes of Make Them Suffer of Ride Records, in addition to three time Aria award winning act Northlane. With tour cancellations due to COVID-19, the band look forward to getting back on the road for their fans once the opportunity arises.
To date, Only Ghosts Remain have four single releases in their online discography. The single lasts five minutes and eight seconds and sits at a steady 90bpm. The track commences with a nineteen second instrumental introduction that features an ambient riff; setting the melodic tone for the proceeding verse whilst also adding to the contrasting metal vocal.
Lauren’s vocal color is stylistic and emotive; seamlessly synchronising with the flow of the driven instrumentation. The subtle layering of the harsher backing vocals adds just the right amount of depth to the metal sound without detracting from the prominence of the main melody. Harmonised backing vocals are also thrown in throughout the track, providing a creative flare for the hook.
