ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mindset, otherwise known as Jonathan Borneman, is a twenty-one year old Hip-Hop/Rap artist from Shelby, North Carolina. Inspired by the likes of Mac Miller, J Cole, and Lil Peep, Mindset amalgamates various genre elements to create his own unique style. Having only recently emerged onto the music scene, he has already performed as the opener for 21 Savage at the Music Farm in Columbia SC back in 2017. Since then, Mindset has performed at various locations around the world, including Charlotte, Atlanta, and Nassau.
Now that Mindset has graduated from the University of South Carolina in May of this year, he plans to release multiple singles before dropping his debut EP later this summer. Mindset has released three singles to date that are currently available on all streaming platforms: ‘Empty Vial’, ‘Hotel In Hell’ and ‘Breakfast In Bed’. With tracks like ‘Hotel In Hell’ amassing almost seven thousand streams, it’s fair to say that Mindset has already developed steady momentum prior to his upcoming EP release.

Our featured single, ‘i still use ur netflix’ by Mindset, is out on the fifteenth of July and will be available to stream on all major streaming platforms! The single lasts two minutes and fifty two seconds and sits at a steady 100bpm.
The track commences with a ten second instrumental introduction that is comprised of an acoustic guitar that follows a chilled strumming pattern; setting the tone for the vocal. Mindset’s vocal color is relaxed which allows the merging of additional vocal layers whilst providing a creative flare to the mix (check out 0:48-0:58). The percussion is subtle whilst also acting as a foundational rhythm that carries the melodic flow.
The combination of a stylistic instrumental track and Mindset’s smooth vocal performance, create a single that will definitely please fans of Mindset, as well as those who appreciate new and creative Hip-Hop/Rap.
