FEATURED RELEASE

Miláns debut album, ‘All That Glitters’, is out now and available to stream on all major platforms. The album lasts thirty-one minutes and is comprised of ten diverse tracks: ‘The Hills’, ‘Where U Been?’, ‘Raise’, ‘Tokyo’, ‘Prince Fielder’, ‘Cruel’, ‘Tap In’, ‘Proud’, ‘I Won’t’ and ‘My Life (feat. Ashley Brooke)’.

The album’s inception was instigated after Milán’s return from a six month trip to Japan. Not long after he had arrived home, ‘All That Glitters’ was penned. Drawing from the struggles that he faced growing up and trying to find balance as an Indian-American son of immigrants, Milán mixes “hyper-confident bangers” with songs which have lyrical content that “sees him dig deeper into his family roots, relationship history, and growing pains”.

Track two on the album, ‘Where U Been?’, sits at a steady 158bpm. Instigated by an instrumental introduction, the beat, sub-bass and main melodic hook are all in full flow from the start. Although there are moments when vocal effects are utilised, like the panned split at 0:25, the production of the rap is clean and prominent. Implementing various rhythmic lines, Milán intentionally diversifies his style throughout to keep the flow consistently engaging.

Track nine on the album, ‘I Won’t’, begins with an ominous and effected keys instrumental section that sets the mood for a smooth track. Mysterious yet melodic vocal sounds are brought into the mix at the 0:24 mark, adding a level of balance to the pitch of the piece. A quiet beat starts around thirty seconds in, with the main rap coupled to a prominent yet spacious beat being added simultaneously. The vocal color utilised by Milán favours a more melodic approach that suits the mood of this single perfectly.

My Life (feat. Ashley Brooke)’ is the final song on the album. Sitting at a smooth 144bpm, this track features guest singer Ashley Brooke who instigates the lyrical content of the single at the 0:40 mark after an instrumental introduction. Her vocal colour is relaxed and emotive, using a perfectly synchronised harmony line to compliment the main melody. Milán’s rap breaks up each chorus yet stands alone as a prominent feature in this track. With lyrical content that allows us to jump into the issues that Milán is dealing with, the combination of beautiful vocals and a rap with depth make this a stand out track in this album.

Fans of hip-hop/rap will definitely want to check out this debut album. Make sure you follow Milán on all of his social media to keep up to date with his upcoming releases!
