Mikey Hamptons & The Meows’s latest album ‘Okay, I’m Ready To Rock Now’ is OUT NOW and available to download and stream on all major streaming platforms.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mikey Hamptons & The Meows’s is an original Alternative Rock/Indie band coming out of New York. Their latest album ‘Okay, I’m Ready To Rock Now’ was reportedly influenced by The Beatles and The British Invasion.
Originally named ‘Predestined’, Mikey Hamptons & The Meows under their previous name released a number of CDs and an EP on Pandora. The name change was first proposed by former manager rrRitchie who drew upon Mikey’s past-time altruistic endeavour of rescuing feral cats and setting up shelters for them where they would be protected from the cold winter weather.
THE ALBUM
‘Okay, I’m Ready To Rock Now’ is a twelve track album with a plethora of variation to appease all of the rock/indie fans out there. The album took approximately two years to complete with subtle changes being made to various lyrics. Mikey’s intention behind the production of the album was to insight the listeners to embrace who they truly are and to stop saying and doing things to appease the expectations of others.
This is an underlying tone throughout the lyrical content of the album with the message of “keeping your personal vision” and “being who you are” acting as a recurring theme. This is particularly prevalent in the track ‘Magic in Your Mind’ which is an electric guitar driven classic rock track with lines like “won’t let fear in me turn me away, lead me astray” and “you need to be who you are” setting the tone for the message of embracing one’s true self by not allowing the influence of others to effect your decisions and actions.
Contributors to the album include Ben Rice from Degraw Sound Studios in Brooklyn who acted as the album engineer, guest guitarist on four of the tracks Andreas Altmann and drummer Stefano Leone who provided a powerful performance throughout the album.
If you want to hear Mikey live, he plays Wednesday and Saturday nights at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amityville, NY and has a soon to be released Christian Rock album set for June 2020!
