ABOUT THE ARTIST
J Spaz, born to the name Joseph Chauncey Reaves, is a rising artist who burst onto the streaming scene in 2019. Originally from Philadelphia, J Spaz has honed his craft over the years having always had a natural talent for music and lyricism.
Our featured album, ‘Laneless’, tells the story of J Spaz’s life and was his first musical project after he woke up from a coma in 2017 as a result of being a victim to gun violence. Before he was shot and placed in a medically induced coma for three months, J Spaz was a boxer fighting out of Johan’s gym in his home town. Growing up in a family with addiction and abuse issues, J Spaz used boxing to give him the confidence needed to defend himself and his mother.
His interest in music initially began in a church choir and later progressed to rap battles in school. Although he receives creative inspiration from a number of styles such as Rap and R&B, J Spaz combines a variety of compositional elements to form his unique sound.
To date, J Spaz has two albums and six singles/EPs in his online discography. Some of his most popular tracks include the likes of ‘meduca’, ‘The Goat’, and ‘Back to Back Fet .Lil Baby’. With a growing number of followers and listeners, there is no denying the fact that J Spaz is developing a dedicated following of loyal fans.
