FEATURED RELEASE

Our featured EP, ‘Slave’ by Isaiah Mclaughlin, is out now and available to stream on all major streaming platforms! The EP lasts around seventeen minutes and consists of six songs:

Time to Go | Valley of the End | Lost Soul | Dark City | Hallows Eve | Slave

The title track on the EP, ‘Slave’, lasts three minutes and sits at a steady 152bpm. The song begins with a twenty-two second intro that uses a subtle crescendo to build anticipation and set the stage for the vocal line to kick in. A number of layered vocal elements combine to form an ethereal sound that adds a depth and creative flare to the overall vibe without detracting from the main vocal line.

The vocal color is soft and partially effected by a reverb that provides an atmospheric feel as the lyricism cleanly synchronises with the accompanying instrumentation. The powerful percussion amalgamates with the layered backing vocals to provide a dynamic platform for the main vocal.

Various melodic shifts, check out 1:59 to 2:12, deliver just the right amount of diversity to ensure that this single is engaging from start to finish. The track gradually begins to strip back from around 2:55; seamlessly transitioning to the outro. By the time ‘Slave’ draws to a close, you’ll find yourself caught up in the creative flow of the single and in need of hitting that repeat button for another listen.

Although ‘Slave’ is technically grouped under one genre classification, each track delivers diverse compositional elements that showcase Isaiah Mclaughlin’s songwriting ability; from the widely panned electronic instrumentation, rhythmic vibe and ambient backing vocal harmonies of ‘Time to Go’, the memorable synth progression, ominous piano element and prominent beat of ‘Vally of the End’. to the emotive vocal performance that features the use of imitated layers sung at different octaves which form an ominous yet full sound in ‘Hallows Eve’.

From the creative production and diverse instrumental arrangements, to the authentic vocal performance, fans of Isaiah Mclaughlin, as well as those who appreciate new and creative music, will definitely want to hear this EP.
