LATEST RELEASE

The latest single ‘Locked In’ by Glory Lives is OUT NOW and available to stream on all major streaming platforms! Sitting at a solid 140bpm, the track begins with an ominous solo instrumental section that is combined with a female spoken word that creates intense tension for the initial drop at the 0:13 mark. The track has a powerful sub-bass that, when combined with the percussive beat and melodic instrumentation, creates the perfect complimentary foundation for the rap that is certainly the main focal point of the single. A doubled vocal during the choral lines creates a layered tension that expresses a definitive differentiation between the chorus and surrounding verses.

Lines such as “traveled the globe working the road, no I never fold” and “salvage my soul, how could this be life? Gotta be more” reveal the inner battle faced by Glory Lives as he travels and faces his “demons” while constantly combating adversity: “preparing for war”. Even with the pressure that comes with travel and performance as a rapper, Glory Lives acknowledges the contrasting polarisation of personal action with the lines: “thanking the Lord…ready for war…preparing for Karma”, revealing his knowledge and realisation that actions impact the positive and negative experiences in life relatively rather than in random instances.

Given the current global pandemic that has forced many countries to enforce a complete lockdown of pedestrian movement, it is easy to interpret the line: “Fuck the system, this redemption…I’m locked in”, as a direct response responding to the informed lockdown that many of us are currently experiencing. Such a bold, lyrical voicing of personal feelings is an admiral expression of creative emotion during a time of confusion and ambiguity as to the future regarding freedom of movement.

Stuck in oppression” can be interpreted as an inner state of torment faced by Glory Lives as he comes to terms with “trauma” that he is reflecting upon, as well as having potential political connotations that refer to the oppression of certain freedoms enforced during the current pandemic.

Fans of hip-hop, rap and powerful lyrical content will definitely want to hear the single ‘Locked In’. Make sure you follow Glory Lives on all of his social media and streaming platforms!
