The Filipina American singer/songwriter and guitarist Frances Ancheta has released her latest album ‘Hidden Gems’ and it is available to stream now! 

Frances has already released two prior albums (Patterns // Now We’re Here)  and is back after eight and a half years with her latest release ‘Hidden Gems’. Having gone through the ordeal of surviving cancer, Frances strongly believes that music has the ability to heal as well as connect people. It is this belief, coupled with her passion for songwriting, that is encapsulated in what has been described as a ‘thoughtful, electric acoustic folk’ style. 

As well as writing and performing her own songs, Frances is also a creative arts therapist who utilises her experience as a cancer survivor to inspire people to “understand the world around them, to connect with others, and to heal”.

Frances Ancheta’s latest album ‘Hidden Gems’ consists of eleven tracks that embody the eclectic acoustic folk and indie pop/rock style that she has naturally embraced.

‘Strong Brave Soul’ commences the album with an upbeat and rhythmic sound that is driven by the percussion and clean guitar with a vibrant vocal melody that develops throughout the track; including layered backing vocals that add to the track’s fullness and depth. 

In contrast, ‘The Keeper of the Stories of Your Life’ utilises a 6/8 tempo with a stronger focus on the acoustic guitar and piano. The backing vocals featured throughout this track add a foundational layer of support that compliment the soft vocal line perfectly.

Although the rhythmic intensity and stylistic shifts in melodic mood change from track to track, there is an underlying tone of new wave folk that emanates throughout this album; primarily carried by the soft yet emotive tone of Frances’ vocal performance. Her passion is tangibly felt through her gentle vocal color throughout the album.

Having already accumulated international exposure by way of independent promotion as well as getting internet radio airplay in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Spain, Frances is clearly on the rise with her uniquely genuine acoustic folk style expressing her intention to connect people through the medium of music.
