ABOUT THE ARTIST

Disinterment first broke into the metal scene back in the 1990s when they began playing at various venues; quickly establishing themselves as a popular death metal band in Manila. Known for their “perpetual windmill headbanging and brutal live performances”, Disinterment gathered a loyal fanbase as they captivated their audience.

The band went on to write and compose their debut album, ‘Defiled Covenant’, throughout the mid 90s; however the band didn’t begin the recording process until around 2000. ‘Defiled Covenant’ has been described as “eight tracks of solid and unrelenting death metal intensity” that “takes us musically on a fast paced, sightseeing tour of the Domain of the Damned”. Disinterment went on to release two more Single/EPs: ‘Demoniacal Dispel’ and ‘Domination Defied’; with stateside physical releases from 2004 to 2008.

Although their trademark album ‘Defiled Covenant’ was released back in 2003, tracks like ‘Domination Defied’ and ‘Darkness Enthralled’ have received roughly fifteen thousand streams each on Spotify alone. It’s fair to say that Disinterment’s work has a timeless quality that is still appealing to death metal fans in 2020.

Disinterment’s new album ‘Defiled Covenant’ is out now! The album consists of eight tracks and lasts around nineteen minutes. The introductory track on the album, ‘Disintro’, lasts just over one minute and combines a plethora of ominous/atmospheric sounds to create an engulfing experience; captivating the listeners attention whilst also setting the melodic tone for the album by showcasing the band’s compositional creativity.

Although the album is unashamedly committed to the death metal genre, each track exhibits its own unique stylistic elements; from the shifting tempo and eclectic guitar solo in ‘Despoiled Dominion’, the seemingly endless amount of individually memorable electric riffs in ‘Devine Retribution’, the fast transitions and diverse instrumental shifts in ‘Darkness Enthralled’, to the melodic opening electric guitar riff and prominent bass line of ‘Diluvian Crescent’.

The vocal color throughout the album is dark and intense; resultantly sitting seamlessly inline with the equally driven instrumental layers that amalgamate to form the band’s authentic and original sound. Fans of Disinterment, as well as those who appreciate new and creative music, will definitely want to hear this album. ‘Defiled Covenant’ is out now!
