ABOUT THE ARTIST
The French-Senegalese artist, who is now based in the United Kingdom, has established himself as a prolific rapper, french music producer and singer/songwriter who is now signed to the indie label Immignation Music. Ghost-writing/producing for a variety of different artists over the past few years, his repertoire of artistic work is expansive.

DayVinci’s latest single release ‘Superficial Girl’ was written back in 2008 and is now available on all major streaming platforms. The single’s subject matter describes a girl who has an inclination towards an appreciation for material possessions that would be considered superficial in our society. “You a superficial girl, I love it” twists the expected rejection of materialism and instead shows DayVinci’s appreciation for a woman who is confident in upholding her preference for the more expensive things in life.
Lyrics such as “Carrying a chihuahua, she don’t want no drama” and “momma said you ugly” embrace a more satirical perspective regarding various stereotypes associated with holding ‘superficial’ values. Nevertheless, DayVinci’s main message behind the track is protesting to the fact that those things don’t detract from the woman, rather he values her committed embodiment of who she chooses to be.
The stylistic composition of this track is heavily centred around the rap with a subtle yet foundational sub-bass complimenting the beat that drives the rhythmic flow of the single. Around two-thirds of the way through the track there is a Brazilian-Baile Funk inspired instrumental that adds another layer to the composition that acts as a perfect break before the final chorus.
The music video for the single is available on the DAYMOLITION YouTube channel and has received thousands of views in only a few days since its release. The stylistic approach of this music video incorporates a number of shots that have DayVinci as the main focal point in scenes that depict the environments that are being expressed in his rap. A variety of cuts to superficial objects that are addressed in the rap perfectly compliment the main scenes adding to the professionally edited production.
