ABOUT THE ARTIST
Clay Rodgers is an up and coming songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer who is originally from Santa Barbara, California. Although Clay spends most of the year at Wesleyan University in Middletown, he spends his spare time honing his instrumental talents and songwriting. Although Clay Rodgers was heavily influenced by Jazz throughout his initial musical training, he purposefully blends a number of different elements from a variety of genres to form his unique sound; including indie/alt-rock, jazz, funk, psychedelia, experimental, and world music.
Although Clay has previously released music with his band, South Coast Soul, he also has two solo albums and five singles/EPs that are available to stream in his online discography. Some of his most popular tracks include ‘Welcome Home’, ‘Just Around the Bend’, and ‘Crocodile’. With over eight hundred regular monthly listeners on Spotify alone, it’s fair to say that Clay is building a loyal fan base who will definitely love his latest album.

The album is written as an introduction to the story of a character who “wanders the Santa Barbara/San Ynez mountains, looking for people who have come to end their lives, submit to addictions, or otherwise lose themselves”.
Although the album is technically grouped under the genre classification of Alternative, each track features a plethora of creative and stylistic elements that showcase Clay Rodger’s talent as a songwriter; from the fluid flow of the main guitar line and eclectic percussive beat of ‘Welcome Home’, the smooth Jazz vibes and effortless/stylistic vocal color from 6:32 to 7:14 in ‘Just Around the Bend’, to the richness of the partially reverberated/layered vocal and funk-style beat/bass foundational instrumentation of ‘Dread’.
