ABOUT THE ARTIST

The upcoming album, ‘Kelsey Gang’, is the first release from the new record label Jesus Rode a Dinosaur who have been described as “the last independent music label”. To date, the label has ten artists: Madame Stir Krazy, Enola Gay, Shorty Big and the Screwballs, Old Time Boxing, Kelsey Gang, Ce N’est Rien, Groove Kennedy, Timofey Shemmer, Grey Lady Ghost, and Damage.

With the label’s first album featuring nine unique tracks and a plethora of original artists, it’s fair to say that ‘Kelsey Gang’ is set to be a successful debut release for the label and artists alike. Our featured single from the album, ‘Funny Honey’, was written and performed by the up and coming Austin based band Ce N’est Rien.

Our featured single, ‘Funny Honey’ by Ce N’est Rien, is to be released on the 27th of November on the compilation album ‘Kelsey Gang’ which will be available to stream on all major streaming platforms! The single lasts four minutes and twenty-seven seconds and sits at a steady 75bpm. The track commences with a six second introduction that combines subtle percussion with a foundational acoustic guitar progression; setting the tone for the proceeding verse.

The vocal color is stylistic and emotive; seamlessly synchronising with the flow of the upbeat instrumental accompaniment. The use of a partial reverb adds a depth to the overall sound without detracting from the prominence of the impressive lyricism. The instigation of a more elaborate percussive beat at the 0:46 mark drives the rhythmic intensity of the track. The beat drops out at various stages throughout the single, allowing the vocal to take the main position in the mix whilst also creating a sense of anticipation for the hook to kick back in.
