ABOUT THE ARTIST
Carter Lagrant is an up and coming artist who burst onto the streaming scene in 2019 with his single ‘Satellite’. Although he receives creative inspiration from a number of genres such as EDM, Alternative Rock and Experimental Hip-Hop, Carter Lagrant combines a variety of compositional elements to form his unique sound. Not shying away from complex subject matter, Carter addresses topics such as “violence, inequality, love, and hate” within his lyricism.

Our featured EP, ‘XXXX’ by Carter Lagrant, is to be released on the 29th of January and will be available to stream on all major streaming platforms! The EP consists of six tracks.
The opening track on the EP, ‘Power’, lasts two minutes and twenty-four seconds and sits at a steady 90bpm. The song commences with a ten second introductory section that features a foundational sub-bass and whispered vocal line; setting the tone for the rest of the track. The vocal color is clean and emotive, seamlessly synchronising with the ominous tone of the instrumental accompaniment.
A rhythmic beat and melodic synth layers kick in for the instrumental interludes and ensure that the track is engaging from start to finish. By the time ‘Power’ draws to a close, you’ll find yourself humming along with the melody and in need of hitting that repeat button for another listen.
Although the EP is technically grouped under one genre classification, each track delivers a diverse range of compositional elements that showcase Carter Lagrant’s songwriting talent; from the atmospherically effected percussion that adds a depth to the ethereal instrumentation of ‘She’, the steady beat that amalgamates with the ambient riff to provide the perfect platform for the seamlessly synchronised lyricism of ‘Whore’, to the immersive experience formed by the creatively panned percussion that is layered with a dark synth progression and powerful sub-bass in ‘Nymphomaniac’.
