Q&A
1. What got you into music?
“Playing the drums got me into rapping. I used to play beats on the drum set and freestyle to them as a kid. Playing the drums gave me my rhythm for rapping.”
2. Who inspired you to make original music?
“There was a group of local musicians that took me under their wing in high school, and taught me how to make music at a professional level. Watching these local musicians make music for a living inspired me to turn my hobby for making music into something more.”
3. How would you describe the music that you typically create?
“New school Southern hip-hop/rap. Being born and raised in the south, southern rap and the sound of southern music is very important to me. So I always carry that into every project that I work on. Even if I’m working on a classical violin piece, I find a way to inject some southern flavor into it.”
4. What is your creative process consist of?
“I always like to construct a hook of a song first. So I spent a lot of time listening to the beat on solo and skating until I find the melody and flow that I want to use. Then, I fit the words into that melody. Once I’ve constructed the overall vibe of the song then, I usually write the verses last.”
5. Who would you most like to collaborate with?
“I have awesome ideas for big hip-hop ballads that would need a strong vocalist. I would love to work with Artists like John Legend, Bruno Mars, and Chris Brown. I also have a fun idea to make a remix to my breakout single “Tweety”, but in the female perspective. I feel a female vocalist like Megan Thee Stallion would be amazing to collaborate with as well.”
6. What is the best advice you could give to an up and coming artist?
“Be yourself and be patient. I’ve been working at this music dream now since 2010. So, one thing I’ve learned is that it definitely does not happen overnight. Also, just because something is popular at the moment doesn’t mean that you should conform to it. If you have a unique style as an artist I think you should naturally let that develop and give that to people, because they will appreciate you being yourself more than trying to fit in with the trend. Being original is your superpower as an artist.”
7. What’s next for your music career?
“Well, we just dropped ‘Climbing up the Ladder’ so the music video is coming down the pipeline now. It will be out within the next couple of weeks. I’m also working on an EP that will be released later on this year. It will be a piece introducing me to the world and giving them a little backstory on me as an artist. Along with some Bangers to turn up to.”
