Alias Wayne - 'Faux Pas'
Alias Wayne’s latest album ‘Faux Pas’ is OUT NOW and available to stream on all major platforms!
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alias Wayne is the “fun side project” of singer/songwriter Ranzel X Kendrick. His passion for music began back in grade school when the Country legend and multi-Grammy winner Roger Miller gave him tips regarding songwriting. Throughout his teenage years, Ranzel X and his high school friend, who happened to be a drummer, jammed with Miller when he visited town. The son of two Texas ranch families is also the creator of his own “free range” music style; incorporating various genres to create a unique amalgamation. With influences that include Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Steve Miller, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Roger Miller, the Beatles and others from Chet Atkins to the Rolling Stones, it is no surprise that Ranzel X enjoys diversification when it comes to songwriting.
Ranzel X has performed at venues all across the globe including ‘The Bitter End’ in Greenwich Village, New York, ‘Musician's Institute’ in Hollywood, California and ‘Le Botanique’ in Brussels, Belgium. Described as a “backwoods troubadour”, it is unsurprising that Ranzel X enjoys the exploratory element of travelling and song-writing. Ranzel X has an expansive catalogue of original material which includes the three-album ‘Texas Series’ and his previous release under the name Alias Wayne, ‘Snafu’.
LATEST RELEASE
Alias Wayne’s latest album ‘Faux Pas’ is OUT NOW and available to stream on all major platforms! The album contains five tracks: Gimmie What It’s Worth, Broke Down In Texas, Nobody But Me, Caveman Jack, Just Because. Our suggested track is track one, ‘Gimmie What It’s Worth’. Sitting at a smooth 97bpm, this track begins with a guitar that is met by a harmonica and a strongly panned second guitar line that perfectly compliments the initial riff.
The vocal color utilised in this track is reminiscent of a smooth rock style that comes across as effortless yet emotive. The line “stop hey what’s that sound, everybody look what’s going down” is met with layered backing vocal lines that harmonise with the lead vocal creating an epic nostalgic feel. Later in the chorus, a female vocal line compliments the lead vocal adding a completely different element to the style of the track in contrast with the previous harmony. A main feature throughout the single is most definitely the lead guitar that utilises various melodies that feel like improvisational lead breaks, yet tie in fluently with the overall instrumentation.
If this track is anything to go by, this album is an absolute must for fans of singer/songwriters who like the nostalgic feel of music from the late 60s, yet appreciate a completely unique and modern stylistic interpretation. ‘Faux Pas’ is OUT NOW and available to stream today. Make sure that you follow Ranzel X Kendrick on his social media to keep up to date with his upcoming performances and releases.

“There is nothing wrong with wearing your influences openly on your sleeve for all to see. Especially when your influences appear to be the late 60’s and particularly the Rolling Stones and Buffalo Springfield. I’ve also said that Alias Wayne knows how to work with covers. Ring of Fire proved that and here he applies the same smarts to two bona fide classics.”
